I guess this is what I do, now. This one was actually mastered, and I'm not trying to be funny or anything.

Drums and vocals are normally the two things I steal from the original tracks using a stem splitter, but deleting a Hendrix guitar part and replacing it with my own would be insane, so I just made my own much crappier guitar part, sang it myself and played the drums on the keyboard.

If you think I'm bad, that's okay. People who have the confidence to put their singing out there aren't always that good. Not that I like putting it out there, but I'm attempting exposure therapy, where if I just do it, I can't undo it, and then maybe I'll get better at it and not be terrified to hit the upload button on my recordings. Anyway...

I just used a basic Reaper compressor and reverb, I have no wind screen, my microphone is hand held, I did no EQ-ing or mastering. I also wasn't warmed up, and probably shouldn't have tried for the high notes, being a literal baritone. It's okay! I had fun. That's what matters, when you're singing.

Got any feedback? Think i'm awful and should never sing again? If you do, that sucks for you, because I'm self taught and I like it. But still tell me. I'll f actor it in. Maybe.

Another very early Ableton thing I made while learning. I found this really cool low-fi piano patch that sounded like someone sampling their living room piano with their laptop. Squeaking and hissing and background and everything. And that turned into this. Also using some midi transformation tools and automation and whatever. But all the instruments are stock Ableton. No third party stuff in here.

Hi all. This is my first attempt at Dubstep in Ableton Live. I'm still learning how to use it, so decided what better way to learn than experiment with one of my favorite genres. As such, it's nothing high quality.
The drums are mine, along with some of the plucks, strings and pianos. Build-ups and chops are Cymatics.
Also there is a sidechain, so when the drums hit, the compression of everything else is intentional.

Hello folks! Steffen here, also known as Radiorobbe. 

Since some of you have been wondering how my 24/7 street microphones work, here is a brief explanation of my setup. It's not very professional, but it's working fine for more than 5 years. 
First of all, I apologize for the artificial version of my voice. It corresponds to my voice when I was about 10 years younger and was trained with some of my German podcasts from that time. I could try to stutter my way through the automatically translated text, but I'd rather not do that to anyone. Anyway, back to the topic.

First, the mics. These are two standard Primo omnidirectional electret capsules (EM272) attached to the outside window sill using simple metal clips. The capsules are available as ready-made microphones from various manufacturers for about $100, e.g. as Clippy EM272. These microphones have the advantage of being relatively discreet and can be used in almost any weather. Even if they get wet, they usually don't break easily. They do sound a little strange for a while, but once they dry out, they work fine again. Small fur windscreens are on top of the capsules. Unfortunately, they are not very effective, but at least they keep out small gusts of wind. The microphone cable is thin enough to go through the window frame without drilling. However, I put an extension cable between the mics and the sound card to avoid damaging the actual microphone cable when opening and closing the window. 

Now to the signal processing. The microphone is currently connected to a cheap USB sound card, model Axagon ADA-17. It costs just around $20 and is one of the few sound cards in this price range with a 3.5 millimeters stereo microphone input. An audio recorder with a USB interface or a mixer might be a better solution, but a test showed that the sound quality of the USB dongle is hardly worse than that of an Olympus recorder, for example. I also wanted to keep the technical effort to a minimum, as there is currently no room for an additional mixing console. The computer is a cheap Beelink S12 Pro Mini PC. These computers are very quiet and energy-efficient, making them ideal for such tasks. Of course, you can also use a Raspberry Pi for streaming, which I have done when first setting up the mics. However, since the computer has other tasks that have nothing to do with streaming, a better solution was needed. 

The rest is just software. The microphone signal is streamed to an Icecast server using the RadioCaster program. Then the non-public stream is archived in audio files of one hour each, allowing me to quickly cut out noise or special events from the stream, provided I know about them of course. Over the past 5 years, I have been able to collect a considerable number of odd and sometimes spectacular audio clips in this way. Lightning strikes, fighting cats, falling trees, and of course crazy people that I don't want to share with a wider audience for privacy reasons. In summary, I'd say that 95% of the time it's very boring, but for the remaining 5%, the technical effort was worth it. 

Well, that's all for now. I hope I've inspired some of you to try your hand at building such a system. If you want to build your own, you can expect to spend around $200 to $300, with the computer being the most expensive component. Hhave fun!

Since this is not just an one-time thing, I decided to post it on the affected platform itself. As you hear in the recording, unfortunately, loading audio data sometimes is, very unpleasant to say the least. I listened to 35 minutes straight without any issues, and my internet speed is not affecting it either. I suppose, enjoy this thing now being different to the usual recordings / uploads, and maybe this helps to debug? IDK. Also please note that I'm not uploading this to seek some way of attention to get fixed faster, this is purely for showcase for others interested. Interestingly enough, someone else faces issues with the same browser, while I've heard another saying that everything perfectly works out fine. So I'd love to hear about you ff users in the comments and maybe when I know what's causing it I can open an apropriate issue with more than the detail "hey, this doesn't work". Sometimes that's really annoying, I myself know that

ironcross32 just uploaded an engine made with Surge XT which reminded me, I tried to code an engine sound from scratch using only the web audio API, no samples, just a bunch of  oscillators and math. Ignore the soft clicks, those are the parts where my math was slightly inaccurate and I didn't bother fixing that yet. Maybe I'll turn it into a little toy for people to play with. There are a bunch of changeable parameters but this is it in its default configuration. 

At about 5:00 this afternoon while I was sitting in my backyard, I heard a steadily increasing buzzing sound above me. At first I thought it was our neighbor flying his drone over the area, but since the buzzing seemed to be coming from nearly everywhere, it must have been a huge swarm of insects. Probably bees, and according to the noise maybe even a whole colony looking for a new home. Either way, it sounded pretty impressive, if not a little threatening. My 24/7 street microphones also picked up the swarm, unfortunately mixed with the sound of passing cars.

It was me and some friends at Teamtalk playing with Suno, when we covered this song. Initially we made a metal, and a friend liked it so much that he modified a ROM to put it. But I thought an orchestrated version would be better, so I did it, and to test Reaper after formatting my PC, I did this crap.

Yeah so this is free writing. I opened Reaper without any plan and made everything up as I went, with a single pass. Don't expect the usual storyline quality or whatever from me, but this could be worse. I just wanted to test the new tts service, which was quite expressive but still has a long way to sounding actually good. Don't forget to comment ❤️
