Generally I like to call different weird numbers or automatic services and record them. I have a quite big collection already. I called one of the numbers I found and heard this. It's some kind of a digital transmission, but not sure what is it's purpose. Hope someone can help me solve this.

I am not a telephone enthusiast but it sounds like a fax machine sound like you dialed a fax machine.

Sounds like a headache.

This is a receiving device at a monitoring station. Home/business burglar/fire alarm systems call into this to report intrusions, fires, status, and trouble. I have no idea what any of the supported protocols are called, but I'm very familiar with this sound.

That's a cool noise.
