Description:

I like this song, and I wanted to try covering it in a different style from the original. I took inspiration from Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek, though I'm not sure if I took a little or a lot of inspiration from it. The digital Talk Box -only performance itself was definitely inspired by Hide and Seek, though I'm not sure about the production elements. My apologies if the Talk Box chords or track mixing aren't good; I'm not a professional musician. I hope you enjoy!

I absolutely love this. Way different from the original, but to be honest I like it better. Super based.

love this. how'd you do it?

Thanks everyone for the support. To answer the question of how I did this, I used a program called Vocaloid 4. It's not the easiest program in the world to use, but I'm working with people to write up a guide for it. I'm not exactly sure when that'll be ready though.

Love the song, and am looking forward to the guide! I always thought vocaloid was completely unusable.

vocaloid 4 free? i have a full guide, can translate it if someone want to. and what is that talkbox / vocoder you've used? it's a vst?

  • Dan Gero - 08/31/2025

@albluc24 Thank you for the support.

@vrivri Na, Vocaloid isn't free. Well, technically Vocaloid 6 has a free trial, but we're not able to use that because you can't configure the necessary keyboard shortcuts.

As for the Talkbox, I used a combination of MDA Talkbox and TAL Vocoder 2. MDA Talkbox takes care of the higher sound, and TAL Vocoder sort of acts as a bass.

As for the guide, please do post it here whenever you get the chance; that'd be great.

I don't know if you knew, but there really is a free version of Vocaloid out there. I don't remember if it was 4 or 3. I need to look for that version along with the voices, I have it saved somewhere on my hard drive. As for the guide, I will translate it and post it here as soon as possible.

@vrivri I think I know what you're talking about. If it's the tiny editor, I believe that's free, but it has limitations. I already purchased the full version, so I don't need that. If it's a free version of the full editor you're talking about, that would be a crack. If it's the latter case, please don't share cracks here. I've linked to this page other places, and I really don't want to get in trouble for inadvertently and indirectly spreading pirated software. Plus, I'm fairly certain the Audio Pub admins wouldn't appreciate that being posted here either. Posting a guide is OK though.
