Description:
Here's another radio recording, recorded back in January 23, 2022. 700WLW AM was having problems and there was dead air, and this was during a basketball game. That beeping noise is from my phone wireless charger. That afternoon when I was tuning the dial I noticed the station was silent, so I decided to record and listen on another radio. Turns out this happend during a game. you can hear around the 19 minute mark, the guys were messing around with the microphone, and you knew they were having issues. Eventually they got things back up and running again.

WLW is an interesting station. They used to broadcast, for a brief time in the 40s I believe, at 500 KW, 500,000 Watts. They had to lower the power, though, because people in Canada and Mexico were complaining to the station and to the US Government that their devices were acting strangely.
"W8XO's late-night tests went on for months. This wasn't your mom's hot plate. When Ohio's famous lightning hit the tower, RF would simply sustain any resulting arcs, at the air gap or anywhere else, until the carrier was interrupted. There were folk tales, probably accurate, of talking rain gutters, sparking fences, singing water pipes, and nearby street lights dimming on modulation peaks."

Yeah, I knew they used to run at high power. Even today it has a nice signal here in Columbus, despite my stupid wireless charger, emitting all that noise that you hear. That's what I don't really like about the Chargers, they splatter almost all over the spectrum. And you don't even have to be super close to them.

Yeah the chargers are bad for radio. I try to keep mine far away if possible.

How does 760 WJR out of Detroit come in, if at all?
