I like how the latency with this is much lower, about a second compared to 7 or 8 seconds on YouTube.

Honestly at some point I am thinking of trying to develop something similar to Youtube/PeerTube, but not as resource heavy and have a way that it could be more distributed in a way that you don't need a VPS with terabytes of storage and a shit ton of RAM.

Then you're moving the cost around; all these servers need to store the videos at some point and transfer it to viewers which costs bandwidth. What you were suggesting is a fantecy LOL

I've heard of platforms that manage to reduce the load, they used something called Nostr, I think. Idk much about it but it sounds like that's what's going on with that.

I like how AudioPub does streaming too. Passing it to an Icecast server instead of dealing with WebRTC and shit. Yes, this means you're technically on the radio.

If ain't broke don't fix it. I considered making a custom streaming implementation but then I'll have to maintain that nope. Just let icecast do what it it's made to do for us

Well you'd need an audio capture source if you wanted to pipe desktop audio through, but that's easy enough to set up.
