Description:
I hope you all enjoy this cover. Something about this cover feels a bit off to me, but maybe that's just self-confidence dissonance or something. Can't wait to see you all for Friday's Super Liam stream!
BTW, there is a liberty I decided to take that makes it a bit less realistic to the hardware. The NES sound chip does not have stereo panning. I just thought it sounded better this way, personally.

Automatically 100% better than the OG.
Dan Gero - 05/21/2026
Haha I appreciate it, but the OG theme and the new LAIM theme really are timeless classics IMO.

the laim theme was made with AI, which well, while fitting the theme of the mode, kinda, sucks?
Dan Gero - 05/21/2026
I disagree personally. I happen to like the sound of most of the AI tracks. Plus, as you said, it's thematically fitting.

ok, this is a bop I have to admit.

Not bad at all! If Super Liam was released in the 80's which minus the sound design it totally could've been but if it was this is probably what the intro music would sound like assuming it kept the same melody but I think it would probably be faster like 150 bpm.

Oh my goodness, this is really good, I would even say beautiful. Thank you for putting so much time and care into this wonderful piece of music. I would love a version that's a tad faster and in G instead of A to better match the feel of the game, but aside from that small personal preference of mine, I absolutely love it!

can I ask how did you do those slides? I know magical 8bit has pordimento, but I have no idea on how to get it working.
Dan Gero - 05/21/2026
You have to make the notes overlap with each other, and set max poli to 1. This makes it monophonic, so overlapping notes slide from one to the other. Then you just set the pordamento how you like it.

This is legitimately really solid. And I love the key.
