Sorry if the quality of this demo isn't as good as the last one. I've been working for hours on this without a break, and I'm a bit tired. Perhaps I'll upload a second demo with improvements.
Anyway, I never owned a Wii myself, but I've played on other people's Wiis before, so I have some level of nostalgia from it. I enjoy the Mii channel music, and I also like the Honeyworks song I covered here, though I prefer the Kotoha version personally. I thought a Mii channel remix of this song would sound cool, so that's what I did. Here's hoping you all enjoy this.
This is a dumb thing I made a long time ago, and recently, I decided to remake it. I've come quite a ways in my audio editing skills, so I thought I could do a bit better this go round.
BTW, if you're wondering why Paul sounds so weird, it's because I used SSML pitch and speed tags to alter the intonation of his sentences to sound more exaggeratedly human.
A few of my friends have heard me speaking Japanese, and the ones who don't speak the language themselves believe that I sound great and that my skills must be impressive. I am here to demonstrate that this is not at all the case. In fact, in my opinion, my skills are rather disgraceful given the length of time I have been studying. If you are not convinced, generate a transcript of this recording and translate it, and you will see what I mean.
For context, I have started with Duo Lingo, then moved onto Anki, then Japanese Pod 101, and then started talking to native speakers. Perhaps my best language learning streak was setting my phone language to Japanese back when I had an iPhone, as well as my Siri language. This forced me to learn the language via immersion. I learned quite a lot using this method. Unfortunately, I almost completely stalled out after I learned everything I could possibly learn about the iOS user interface in Japanese, as your phone interface can only teach you so much. To this day, I have not found any methods that have even come close to matching my forced immersion experience, let alone surpassing it. Hence, what you hear in this clip.
Nintendo's been doing a lot of stupid bullshit lately, from trying to patent game mechanics, to suing hardware modders in court for the horrible crime of... modding the devices they bought and paid for and showing other people how to do it. I've been thinking to myself, "What is the biggest way I can show people exactly how I feel about Nintendo?"
And then an idea hit me: I should repurpose one of their music tracks against them. In my opinion, this is the ultimate middle finger. And besides that, I had a lot of fun making this.
BTW, I seriously doubt that Nintendo is gonna track me all the way to this obscure website and try to have this track taken down, but I'm going to put this here anyway to protect both myself and the people who run the site. Nintendo, this counts as fair use and transformative work in the United States, (my home country), so you and your legal team can fuck right off.
Since I posted something absolutely ridiculous this morning, I figured I'd balance that out by uploading something that people will like unironically. I made this remix a long time ago, but I had no idea where to publish it. Figured Audio Pub would probably be the best place for it.
BTW, I used Magical 8Bit Plug for this, and my DAW is Reaper.
I like this song, and I wanted to try covering it in a different style from the original. I took inspiration from Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek, though I'm not sure if I took a little or a lot of inspiration from it. The digital Talk Box -only performance itself was definitely inspired by Hide and Seek, though I'm not sure about the production elements. My apologies if the Talk Box chords or track mixing aren't good; I'm not a professional musician. I hope you enjoy!
